CALL-TO-ACTION!
Dear Colleague,
I am writing to you as a fellow clinical engineer who is passionate about advancing our profession and improving health care delivery in our country. I am writing to propose the establishment of a clinical engineering society in India, which would serve as a platform for networking, collaboration, education, and advocacy for clinical engineers.
A clinical engineering society in India would benefit our profession in many ways, such as:
Providing opportunities for professional development and continuing education for clinical engineers, through workshops, webinars, conferences, and publications.
Creating a community of clinical engineers who can share best practices, experiences, challenges, and solutions, and support each other in their work.
Promoting the recognition and value of clinical engineering in the health care system, by raising awareness among stakeholders, policymakers, and the public, and advocating for the interests and needs of clinical engineers.
Fostering innovation and research in clinical engineering, by facilitating collaboration among clinical engineers, clinicians, researchers, industry, and academia, and providing access to resources and funding.
Enhancing the quality and safety of health care delivery, by establishing standards, guidelines, and policies for clinical engineering practice, and ensuring compliance with regulations and accreditation.
A clinical engineering society in India would also benefit the health care system and the society at large, by:
Improving the availability, accessibility, affordability, and appropriateness of medical technology, by ensuring optimal selection, procurement, management, maintenance, and disposal of medical equipment and tools.
Improving the efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability of health care delivery, by applying engineering principles and methods to optimize health care processes, systems, and outcomes.
Improving the patient experience and satisfaction, by ensuring the safety, reliability, usability, and interoperability of medical technology, and reducing errors, risks, and adverse events.
Improving the public health and well-being, by contributing to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and conditions, and supporting the delivery of universal health coverage and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
I believe that a clinical engineering society in India would be a valuable and timely initiative, given the growing demand and challenges for health care in our country, and the increasing role and potential of clinical engineering in addressing them. I also believe that a clinical engineering society in India would be feasible and viable, given the existing pool and diversity of clinical engineers in our country, and the support and opportunities from various stakeholders and partners.
Therefore, I urge you to join me in this endeavor, and support the establishment of a clinical engineering society in India. I invite you to share your thoughts, suggestions, and feedback on this proposal, and to express your interest and commitment to be part of this initiative. I look forward to hearing from you soon, and to working with you towards this common goal.
Sincerely,
Jagadesh Kumar Dhayalan
